TV in your Car through WIFI

Posted by admin 29 April, 2007 (0) Comment

Wi-Fi TV is coming to your car—and your mobile.

The Internet TV provider is looking to expand its market to compete with the newly bolstered satellite radio behemoth Sirius-XM. It already has subscribers to its Social Internet TV service from more than 180 countries. Members can IM and SMS while watching the same TV show, make VoIP calls, and offer live online video parties. All of these services are free and are paid for by the company’s advertisers.

The expansion into mobile phone and TV venues seems only natural for a service that essentially already has that capability. You’ll probably find the greatest success using a smartphone, since a plain old mobile won’t be able to handle the live video. That’s a natural for TV monitors installed in the headrests of cars, however, which Wi-Fi TV thinks is a prime market.

Rumour Mill : PSPhone

Posted by admin 29 April, 2007 (0) Comment

The rumors are running rampant about a PlayStation Phone that will be marketed under the Sony Ericsson banner, and it only makes sense, giving the direction that the company has taken with its other product lines. We’ve got the Walkman series, dedicated to providing us the best in music. The CyberShot camera phones focus in on taking good snapshots. There’s even the Bravia TV phone, so why not make a cell phone that directs your attention at mobile gaming and sell it under the PlayStation banner? It wouldn’t cannibalize sales of the PSP, now would it?

In any case, the people at Pocket Gamer stuck their noses out and made a few predictions (more like a wish list) of what the PlayStation Phone would look like if it ever came to fruition. They expect that it’ll rock a sliding form factor like the W850i so that the calling keys can be hidden away when not in use. On the main front, you’ll get your standard set of Sony video game buttons (triangle, square, etc.). Who knows, they might even throw in an analog stick for good measure.

Naturally, the PlayStation Phone (sometimes refered to as the PSPhone) “would also need impressive 3D capabilities”, the likes of which Sony could get from their friends at Nvidia, the same people that provided the graphics of the PS3. If they want to keep everything connected, the PS Phone should also need WiFi and Bluetooth, as well as the usual stuff like a camera, music player, and basic organizer.

After all is said and done, we’re looking at two things. One, we’ve got ourselves a very expensive handset not unlike the Apple iPhone. Two, we’ve got ourselves a phone that will need to be charged every few hours, if the battery life of the PSP is any indication.

The AK-47 Phone,It doesn’t kill thats a first !

Posted by admin 29 April, 2007 (0) Comment

Don’t look too hard for the point to this item. It’s probably just to be able to recite the product title and see how blown away your friends are. This is the Walkie Talkie AK-47 phone, from Brando. In the Henry Ford tradition, it comes in just one color, army-issue green. It plays music and games and takes pictures and does all sorts of other tricks you’d expect from a garden-variety mobile phone these days. Flip phone, though? Not hardly.

The phone is a GSM special and works on 900 and 800MHz frequencies—which isn’t a whole lot, really. You do get WAP, GPRS, and MMS, however, in addition to your standard issue SMS. It also has an ebook reader.

An antenna completes the walkie talkie look. The price is a rather steep US$225.

Use Your Mobile Phone To Control Electrical Devices In Your House

Posted by admin 29 April, 2007 (0) Comment

You don’t need to be home to control the electrical devices in your house?not if you have the right Web interface from NTT-Neomeit.

The software set enables you to control, using your mobile phone, just about anything you have plugged in at home. Press a certain number of buttons on the phone (assuming it’s Web-enabled) and you can send a message to your home wireless router, which transfers the instructions to the various gadgets that you want to turn on and off just to amaze your friends. Among the uses will be setting up the TV recorder to cover your lapses in memory.

The first glimpses of this will be next month, when it goes beta. Expect to see a full version under way this fall, with a monthly cost of US$4. Remember, though, it’s NTT, so it’s Japan. Some Western customers can do some of this now, especially modifying their satellite TV recording schedules. Full electrical functionality would be new, though.

O2 Germany to ship first Windows Mobile 6 smartphone

Posted by admin 29 April, 2007 (0) Comment

O2 Germany has begun to ship the first Windows Mobile 6 smartphone, the Xda Terra (eXtended Digital Assistant) also known as the HTC Wallaby. The phone can use the GSM, GPRS, and EDGE data networks. Plus, it has integrated Wireless LAN and Bluetooth 2.o.

On the hardware side of things, the Xda Terra will have a slide out keyboard and a 2.0 megapixel camera.

You can order the Xda Terra from O2 Germany’s online store. With a 2-year contract, the phone is 80 Euros, and without a contract the phone is 520 Euros.

Now i was tempted to install the beta version on my XDA mini but then i decide against it because why go for something new that might have bugs in it. I usually wait couple of weeks or months until Microsoft iron out the major bugs .

YouTube cell phone guy….

Posted by admin 25 April, 2007 (0) Comment

Ryan Fitzgerald is the cell phone user who posted his number on a YouTube video inviting people to call him up. Thousands of calls, a CNN appearance and a massive phone bill later, Fitzgerald is a celebrity.

T Mobile hasn’t quite offered to take care of his bill for him but commented:

“T-Mobile is intrigued by Ryan Fitzgerald’s experiment,” the company said in a statement late yesterday, hours after Fitzgerald appeared live on CNN (with his cellphone, of course).

“We find Ryan Fitzgerald’s experiment to be interesting and we are glad he was able to take advantage of the unlimited weekend and evening minutes included in his T-Mobile plan,” the company said. “We look forward to learning more about Ryan’s efforts.”

UK networks go head to head with EU

Posted by admin 24 April, 2007 (0) Comment

EUROPEAN plans to slash the cost of mobile phone “roaming” charges will cut operators’ income by more than half and could reduce services abroad for customers, it was claimed today. The warning came from the GSM Association (GSMA), representing 700 mobile phone companies in more than 200 countries.

Now has customers , i think we have been ripped off for many years and the networks should suffer for that. I have heard from many people that just to check your emails aboard cost around £30 and those people who forget to switch off the GPRS end up paying upto £750 pounds for 30 mega bytes worth of data calls!
