Figures from CPP suggest that nearly one in three people in the city have had a mobile phone stolen. Over half said that they knew of someone who had had their phones stolen.
Pubs are the riskiest places, accounting for over 20 per cent of thefts, followed by nightclubs at 15 per cent and the workplace at 10 per cent.
“It is alarming how common mobile theft is becoming,” John Walkley, head of mobile phone security at CPP Phonesafe, told the Glasgow Evening Times.
“Most people rarely leave home without their mobile phone, so it is vital to always be on guard for opportunists.”
Second on the UK list was Belfast, followed by Liverpool in third place, Chelmsford in fourth place and London in fifth place.
