The mobile phone has been named the UK’s favourite gadget, according to foundem.com.

The price comparison and travel search engine found that 20% of all respondents voted for the mobile phone, followed by broadband internet.

The laptop computer also featured in the top five as well as the digital camera, and microwave oven.

The company surveyed 4,000 people and discovered that the iPod, TV remote control, vibrator and satellite navigation also fell in the top 20.

A spokesman for search engine foundem.com, who commissioned the study, said: “It’s no surprise that the mobile phone topped the poll – it has become an indispensable tool for millions.”
