nokia navNokia this time around not only leaked information prior to the release, but has also decided to ship the handset on the day of announcement.

The phone has a GPS, a 5-megapixel camera, Xenon flash , Carl Zeiss optics and WIFI connectivity. The phone supports the Ovi family of Nokia internet services such as Nokia Music Store, N-Gage games. The N82 is based on a Symbian OS and S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1.

The N82’s 2.4-inch QVGA screen is slightly smaller than the N95’s 2.8-inch screen, but should still be capable of taking full advantage of the on-board HTML web browser. GPS navigation is also included, and the Nokia Maps service will be provided free of charge.

With the high-resolution camera, the device has the ability to deliver vivid photographs in low-light conditions. You can also access fast camera activation, auto-focus with a dedicated auto-focus assist lamp, fast reloading between shots and DVD-like quality video capture.

Nokia is also promising a new Video Center, pre-loaded with setting for popular video-sharing services. This Video Center package should be upgradeable in the future, which means that support for new platforms, such as YouTube, for instance, could become available. The video player itself supports MPEG4, AVC/H.264, H.264 and RealVideo formats.

The sophisticated and glossy designed phone also provides high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity and one-click uploads to online communities. Through a simple press of a button to can upload pictures and video to view while you are accessing other menus.

The GPS functionality that comes with 15 million point-of-interests enables the user to locate and navigate the most interesting sights, bars or restaurants. You can save map screen shots to the gallery and also sent these routes to friends by MMS. A free voice guided navigation trial is also available.

The Nokia N82 measures 112mm x 50mm x 17.3mm (4.4″ x 2.0″ x .7″) and weighs in at 114g (4oz). There is a microSD memory card slot with support for capacities up to 8GB for expanded memory.

The only problem we have with the phone are the buttons. We don’t like them at all! they look like a old pensioner , that’s the only design flaw we can spot in this model.

The Nokia N82 will be selling for 450 euro/£320/$658 throughout Europe.
