The 3G mobile phone operator ‘3′ seems to have ground to a halt this afternoon, leaving thousands of people unable to make or receive calls. The outage has been over the last hour or two and is resulting in on-screen error messages such as ‘Call Failed’ or ‘Network Error’.

I phoned 3 earlier on as one of my phones appeared to be dead and was told by 3’s excellent customer services (sarcastic face) that is was probably my phone. I asked if he was sure as I had spoke to two other people with 3 phones having the same problem, and he assured me there was no problem with the network.

17:20 and my 3 phone starts to finally ring, and surprise, surprise it’s 3! The advisor confirms that there is in fact a nationwide outage with 3 which he claims is being rectified as we speak.
