Aqua Liquid Cellphone, Eco Friendly and Recyclable

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Designer Sean Park created a handset that pays a tribute to the LOHAS trend (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability), the Aqua Liquid concept phone. This device relies on liquid fuel cells and it’s one of the eco-friendly gadgets we sometimes like to have a look at.

The phone’s parts can be recycled, when the handset’s “dead” and you should know that Aqua Liquid’s display is based on E-Ink technology, that doesn’t use much liquid fuel, saving you battery life and precious talk time.

I must say that the concept looks quite nice, unlike some other eco-friendly designs I’ve seen and it’ll make one particular manufacturer very rich, if it reaches the production stage.

iPhone Magnet, the Needed Upgrade?

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.While the web is buzzing about the new iPhone, coming this summer, more and more concepts keep surfacing, feeding our need for new designs and features. Among those newcomers there’s also a design created by Adam Hutchinson and we’ll call the device “iPhone Magnet”, since its most appealing feature is a magnetometer.

This new iPhone concept comes with a 32GB internal memory, a frontal video camera, video voicemail support, a digital compass (magnetometer), realistic games (aided by the compass) and color-based notifications shown by the Home button.

Also, you should know that this original iPhone packs a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and probably video recording.

Nokia Aeon Advertised in Echelon Conspiracy Movie?

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Yes, you’ve read it right: Nokia Aeon might be the handset that appears a couple of times in the new motion picture Echelon Conspiracy. In case you haven’t got the time and patience to watch the movie, we provide some shots from it, showing the mystery device and there’s even a trailer featuring the phone below.

This handset, known as GZT 650 resembles Nokia Aeon very much and its front side is divided into 2 segments, just like on the famous Nokia concept. The two segments are separated by a metallic stripe and the upper side of the display is transparent, like the keypad of the LG GD900 phone.

During Echelon Conspiracy there’s a scene where the device’s screen is shown and we can get a glimpse of its options: messaging, mail, search, calendar, a weather app, a browser, stocks and settings. Since Nokia 5800 XpressMusic surfaced in “The Dark Knight“, could GZT 650 be an upcoming Nokia touchscreen phone as well?

Idou is cool, we all know that and we have to remind you that this is the first 12 megapixel cameraphone announced for 2009. Cool 3.5 inch touchscreen, a brand new Symbian OS on board, what more could you want?

Spiderman Phone Is Real, Wish It Was a Concept…

It’s real folks and this Spiderman-themed handset is already available in Hong Kong for HK$1180, which translates to about US$152.

I wonder if that’s Peter Parker/Tobery Maguire on the phone’s box and moving on to the specs, they’re pretty basic and average: a 2 megapixel camera, a microSD slot and a swivel display.

We’ve seen a Batman phone previously, even an Obama phone, but how about a Wonder Woman phone? What would set it apart from other such devices?

Wish They Were Phones (WTWP) Episode II: D-roll Laptop Concept

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Let us introduce you to the D-roll concept, a laptop design that made it to our “Wish They Were Phones” section, you know, the place where gadgets that could also be handsets get shown. D-roll was created by designer Hao Hua and it’s based on a typical scroll, being able to roll up after usage.

The device’s straps are used to plug in all USB peripherals and accessories and the concept laptop also comes with a detachable camera, that can be worn on the user’s wrist.

Nobody said anything about OLED, but this concept reminds me of a PSP design that features the same scroll-style approach and a flexible OLED display. Could you imagine a D-roll phone? Or maybe add VoIP/3G/GSM support to the laptop pictured below?

Sony Ericsson CS8, Designed by tob!s

Those look like touch-sensitive keys near the nav pad and you can spot a front camera incorporated in the device’s upper side, so there’s also 3G and videoconference support on board.

Till the time of its launch, we have a look at the Apple netbook concept below, created by Wendy Lui, from the Retrevo team.

Turns out that this futuristic netbook will feature a gestured-based touchpad, a neat camera, a GPS, an accelerometer, stereo speakers and even a 3.5mm jack. Now, let’s guess the size of the display… Classic 10 inch? Less? Touchscreen, anyone?

Nokia E97 Concept, Inspired by Paper Mail and Based on E-Ink Technology

Note: There is a rating embedded within this post, please visit this post to rate it.Fabien Nauroy has a beautiful concept to show us all, Nokia E97, inspired by paper mail. “Where’s the inspiration?” you might ask. Well, the screen of this handset can be detached from its body, just like taking a paper out of an envelope.

The concept phone’s screen is based on E-ink technology and it’ll be very easy to share with your friends. If you want to show everyone a cool video or a photo, you can simply detach the display and show the content, without having to worry about storage space, because the screen uses a 4 or 8GB memory stick to store data just like an USB Flash drive.

Nokia E97’s screen can also be used like a photo frame on your desk, once it’s connected to the small USB base. This is probably the best Nokia concept I’ve seen in years, so congratulations Fabien for such a great idea!

Apple iPhone Leaked Photo Shows Sliding QWERTY Keypad, Gaming Control

Unbelievable as it may seem, this device packs a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a directional pad for games and action buttons placed among the rest of the keys.

I guess the touchscreen will be kept, but most of the gaming will be done with the aid of the physical keyboard. If an analog controller makes it in there too, you can count me as a fan of the new iPhone, however I wonder how such a feature can be implemented with the sliding keypad and all.

Who’ll need a PSP or Nintendo DS if such a handset is launched?
