Mobile Today is reporting that 3 has been “caught out” by high levels of demand for its prepay Skypephone, with many stores selling out of handsets within days of its launch.
The device, which allow users to make free Skype calls in exchange for a minimum monthly top-up of £10, is just “flying off the shelves”, according to 3 staff country-wide.

According to the Guardian, Google is attempting to purchase Skype from eBay. No figures have been announced. Skypewould be another perfect Google service you will have with Google email ,Google Mobile and it would be perfect on the new Google Mobile OS .

The 3 Skypephone is a fully-featured 3G Internet phone with Skype built-in. In addition to Skype calls the phone makes conventional calls and can be used to access 3’s broad range of other internet services.

The 3 Skypephone was built by Chinese manufacturer Amoi, will cost £49.99 on pre-pay and will be free to monthly contract subscribers. Skype calls and instant messenger are free for up to 4,000 minutes talk or 10,000 chat messages per month.
Monthly contract customers can get the 3 Skypephone for free and can make Skype calls and send Skype instant messages on top of their normal call and text allowance. Calls can be made as normal over the mobile network: PAYG customers are charged a flat rate of 12p per minute for calls and 12p per text, and access to voicemail is free.
Contract customers get a set amount of inclusive calls and texts each month. Contract customers can get the Skypephone on contracts costing as little as £12 a month.
SkypeIn and SkypeOut are not available because of technical difficulties.
This handset will not work in the US either. A 3 rep told the us that it had missed the deadline for FCC approval. The final software build was only completed three to four weeks before the launch.

3 unveils Skype internet phone
The UK Mobile operator 3 has teamed up with Skype to launch a new 3G internet phone that will let you make free internet calls and send free text messages.The operator already offers access to free Skype calling through an application for its X-Series phones.
“This is the first time,” says 3, “that an operator has offered a mass market device which is tailor-made for free calling over the internet from a mobile”.
Skype-to-Skype calls will be free from a 3 Skypephone as long as you are on a paid-up contract or have PAYG 3 credit topped up monthly. In the UK, the 3 Skypephone will cost £49.99 on a PAYG tariff. It will be free as a contract option.
