O2 have announced a shake-up of its entire Pay Monthly and small business tariffs, including those for the iPhone.

The new changes are available existing iPhone customers from today, but not customers using other mobile phones until their contract comes up for renewal.O2 wants to simplify its contracts tariffs and make it easier for consumer to choose the right tariff.

Its rumoured that O2 made the chnages because of poor sales for the iPhone in the UK that has prompted these changes.

O2 Pay Monthly tariffs will now work on six price points where customers choose the text and minute bundle (similar to the Three network ) which most suits them as well as having the ability to bolt-on unlimited data packages and access to The Cloud hotspots.
The current tariffs for iPhone will be brought in line with the minute and text bundles offered on the new tariff structure.O2 confirmed that customers who have already signed up to an iPhone contract with will have their monthly minutes and texts increased from February and customers who are currently on the £55 price plan will be dropped down to the £45 offering.

T-Mobile slahes Flext tariffs!

Posted by admin 7 August, 2007 (0) Comment

T-Mobile has slashed the inclusive value of its Flext tariffs for new customers, dropping the combined value of texts and minutes offered by as much as £45.

The Flext
The network has also stopped including voicemail in its Flext value package, and has introduced a minimum call charge of one minute for all Flext tariffs. T-Mobile said the move was ‘part of a price review’, but that the ‘tariffs were still good value’.

The operator has made the changes to its post-pay 12-month tariffs proposition, which come into effect on 15 August.

On the Flext £25 12-month tariff, the £40 of inclusive value offered in July has been dropped to £30. On Flext’s £35 contract, inclusive value has fallen from £120 to £90. Flext’s £50 contract now includes £125 worth of value, down from £170.

There is now a £30 gap between the value on the Flext £25 12-month contract and Flext £25 18-month contract. The Flext £30 18-month tariff comes with £90 of texts and minutes, the same as with the Flext 35 12-month contract.

The laptop computer also featured in the top five as well as the digital camera, and microwave oven.

The company surveyed 4,000 people and discovered that the iPod, TV remote control, vibrator and satellite navigation also fell in the top 20.

A spokesman for search engine foundem.com, who commissioned the study, said: “It’s no surprise that the mobile phone topped the poll - it has become an indispensable tool for millions.”

OneStopPhoneShop to close HQ and move in with e2save

Posted by admin 23 July, 2007 (0) Comment

Carphone Warehouse has shut down OneStopPhoneShop

Carphone Warehouse has shut down OneStopPhoneShop, the online retail business it bought only two years ago.

Carphone’s online and off-the-page businesses – OneStop, e2Save, ThePhoneSpot and even Carphonewarehouse.com – have been under intense scrutiny from the networks since the start of the year because of high levels of low-spending customers, customers downgrading tariffs and high churn.

Online retailers such as OneStop and Dial-A-Phone were picking up between 5,000 and 10,000 connections per week at the time of the acquisition, beating The Link and getting close to Phones 4u, despite having significantly lower operating costs.

Carphone said there would be redundancies, although parts of the OneStop operation will now be absorbed into e2Save. However, OneStop is based in Crewe, while e2Save is based in Loughborough.

Carphone is believed to have invested in more sophisticated systems to make its online businesses less dependent on manpower.
